Hamish McGonagall earned a well deserved win in the 5F EBF Maiden Stakes at Musselburgh (Jockey – David Allan) after finishing in the frame in his last four runs. The return to 5F appeared to help as he easily beat Capefly by 5 lengths. David Allan knew he had the beating of everyone at the 2 furlong marker when he took a confident look behind. A couple of nudges inside the final furlong and he extended readily clear of his rivals.

Hamish McGonagall finished an excellent 2nd in the 6F EBF Maiden Stakes at York (Jockey – David Allan) after finding the Godolphin horse, Calming Influence, stronger in the last furlong. David Allan tried to hold on to Frankie Dettori's mount, but Calming Influence proved to be stronger in the final furlong. It was still a very good performance as Calming Influence definitely looks like a horse with a big future.

Hamish McGonagall made a great start to his 3-y-o career. He finished 2nd in the 5F Thomas Lord Stakes at Thirsk (Jockey – David Allan). After beating every horse on the favoured stand side he was very unlucky to be beaten a half length by Mey Blossom who elected to run down the far side. He kept on well towards the line and will improve for the run.
